26 July 1999 the day when Kargil War is ended, Every year on 26 July we celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas in Honour of the Kargil War's Heros. Kargil War was fought for more than 60 days, Kargil is a high outpost command. Nineteen years ago, India emerged victorious in the Kargil conflict with Pakistan.


During the War, both sides of country loss hundreds of soldiers. Indian side losing nearly 527 officers, soldiers and the Pakistani side was between 357. The conflict gained a lot of attention because of the India-Pakistan relations post war 1971, Kargil is the rough terrain and high altitude Himalayan regions made the War more difficult.




This day is celebrated in Kargil Dras sector and the national capital New Delhi, Where the Prime Minister of India, Pays the homage to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate every year. Armed forces and other organization organizes functions all over India.

 * Hawaldar Chuni Lal, 8 JAK LI, Vir Chakra. Also awarded Sena Medal for gallantry and posthumously awarded Ashok Chakra as a Naib Subedar.
